Take a step back in time to witness and walk through the marketplace of Bethlehem as it was 2,000 years ago. Beware of the Roman Soldiers and don’t forget to sign Caesar’s Census. Once inside the City gates you’ll be transported back in time as you interact with Bethlehem Market Place residents. Bethlehem City is a busy place and at last check there was no room at the Inns!

HOW YOU CAN HELP BETHLEHEM LIVE
Bethlehem Live is a nonprofit event that relies on volunteers, sponsorship and donations from local churches, businesses and individuals to cover the cost of providing this amazing festival for the Bundaberg Community. Now is your opportunity to partner with us.
From 6pm to 9pm daily. Plus mini-Carols event Thursday night at 8pm.
Free Bethlehem Live Petting Zoo. Daily from 6pm
Bethlehem City Gates open 6pm to 9pm. Opening Ceremony Tuesday 5.30pm (center stage). Closed at 8pm (Thursday) for a mini carols event happening on the Main Stage.
Food and Drinks on sale from 5:30pm to 9pm.

The concept of Bethlehem Live is bought to you by the Combined Churches of Bundaberg in partnership with SU Qld. It came from Townsville’s very successful Christmas Stable on The Strand event which has been running now for around 16 years.
The heart behind Bethlehem Live is to provide a free & inclusive Christmas event that is interactive, fun and joyful, that not only brings the story of Christmas to life in a unique and exploratory way, but also seeks to offer practical care and support to those within our community who may be doing it tough. Each day we see and work with families and individuals who are struggling with grief and loss, sickness and disease, financial issues and relationship breakdowns, to name just a few. These types of situations are heightened at festive times. It is our hope that this festival will not only draw our community together but will also help alleviate some of these stressors by connecting those in need to the variety of care support agencies that will be on site throughout the event.
This is the 4th year that Bethlehem Live has run in Bundaberg. Last year we were again overwhelmed by the positive response from the community and look forward to seeing what this year will bring :).
This event is for everybody and we hope that you will come along and check it out!
Is there wheel chair access?
Wheel chair access is via Crofton Street school entry.
Is there a variety of food and drinks for sale?
Yes there will be a selection of hot and cold food and drinks available for purchase throughout the event.
Will there be items to purchase in Bethlehem City itself?
No. Bethlehem City is an interactive experience where visitors will get to try their hand at various trades but all stalls are for display purposes only.
What activities can we expect for children/youth?
Besides the interactive Bethlehem City Market Place Stalls, we have free photo booths, petting zoo, soldier recruitment centre, children’s Christmas activity, family craft, Nativity Play, musical and dance performances, as well as the opportunity to participate in Jewish dancing in the market square.
What time does the event start?
Bethlehem City gates open from 6pm to 9pm. There will be an Opening Ceremony on the Tuesday evening at 5:30pm.
What time is the Nativity Play?
There will be four plays a night 6:15pm 7pm 7:45pm & 8:30pm
There will also be an Auslan interpreter on the Thursday & Friday nights

When is the Mini Carols event?
We will be closing down the city at 8pm on Thursday for a mini carols event happening on the Main Stage.
Bethlehem Live is held at the Bundaberg Central School Grounds, 13 Crofton Street, Bundaberg. Gates open at 5.30pm.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?
If it rains during the 2019 Bethlehem Live event we will update this section of the website and also post our ‘Plan B’ on our facebook page. We’ll also do the same if we need to close down any night due to poor weather. We do though suggest wearing comfortable shoes that might get a little dirty and bring a umbrella. Our tents are shower proof, not storm proof.
